CARVED OHIO STONE DOG - Southern Ohio, mid-19th century, sandstone. Folksy, life-size greyhound or whippet, with a friendly face, and resting on an integral plinth. 46” long. According to tradition, this dog originally belonged to the Farmer family in Portsmouth, who had come west from Virginia. Provenance: Farmer family, Portsmouth, Ohio.
