DIAMOND-PANELED STORAGE CHEST - Midwestern or possibly Canadian, 3rd quarter-19th century, cherry and pine. With raised diamond or lozenge panels on all four sides. Retains its original finish. 26” high, 40.5” wide, 20” deep. Diamond (or lozenge) panels adorn the case furniture made in a number of Midwestern communities, as well as in Canada. Typically, such furniture was made by German immigrants, such as those in Zoar, New Bremen, Ohio, and Oldenburg, Indiana. Provenance: private collection; found in upstate New York.
