TWO CHAIRS AND A ROCKER - Probably J. Hicks, Uhrichsville, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, mid-19th century, mixed woods. Balloon-backs, all with later black paint. 33” high and 38” high. These chairs were apparently used in Zoar but made in another local shop. One pair in the Ohio History Connection is marked for Hicks. See Snyder, Snyder, and Goud, Zoar Furniture: A Preliminary Study, pp. 17-18. Provenance: Keeping House Bed and Breakfast, Zoar, Ohio; purchased from Wallick Auctions (Ohio).
