NEW YORK STATE SAMPLER - Maria Louisa McCord, Dutchess County, NY, dated June 17th, 1830, silk on linen. Large central vase of flowers with verse above and below, and a wide floral and strawberry border. In a later frame . 18” high, 17.5” wide (overall). Maria McCord (1819-1848) was born to John Irwin McCord (1786-1863) and Maria Voorhees McCord (1790-1863). She married George Taylor (1814-1882) in LaGrange in 1843. The couple had three children, with Maria dying just seven months after the birth of her youngest. Provenance: an Ohio collection.
