OHIO CURLY MAPLE STOOL - Possibly Zoar, mid-19th century. Diminutive stool with shaped skirt and bandy legs. 6.5” high, 11” wide, 7” deep. This type of ”bandy” leg is seen on furniture from many Midwestern-German communities, including Zoar. A similar stool, but with a plain skirt, is illustrated and discussed in Richmond, Equal in Goodness: Ohio Decorative Arts, 1788-1860, entry 140. Provenance: an Ohio collection; ex Clark Garrett (Ohio); sold at Mike Clum Auctions; ex Billy Davidson (Ohio).
