ZOAR, OHIO CUPBOARD - 3rd quarter-19th century, walnut and poplar. Glas kasttlein, with a dovetailed case and glazed door. 28” high, 23” wide, 8.5” deep. The glas kastlein was a small cupboard meant for their owners to store their few personal possessions in the communal society of Zoar. See Snyder, Snyder, and Goudy, Zoar Furniture: A Preliminary Study, p. 62. Provenance; descended in the Bimeler family of Zoar, Ohio, through Meta Eberly, daughter of Caroline Kuemmerle Bimeler and Levi Bimeler.
