RED, WHITE, AND BLUE SIGNATURE QUILT - American, 1935-1945. 72 squares, each with a circle of embroidered names, and affixed are badges from Daughters of America council meetings for Pearl Jensen and Eileen Jensen. Handstitched. 88.5” by 74.5”. Pearl May Cox Jensen (1899-1963) and her daughter, Eileen Jensen (1919-2011), lived in the Cleveland area. They were both members of the Daughters of America, a secret Nativist society established in the late 19th century, and by its peak in the 1930s, had over 160,000 members in 33 states. Provenance: the collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
