OHIO PAINT-DECORATED TALL CASE CLOCK - Trumbull County (case), 1820-1830, poplar. Shaped crest and hood sides, and retaining its original black and red, faux rosewood grain-painted decoration. The associated Hoadley movement retains its original decorated dial and wooden works). 84” high. Five Lewis brothers immigrated to Trumbull County (part of the Connecticut Western Reserve) from Connecticut in the early years of the 19th century. They were all involved in the making or selling of clock movements, and locally, many were installed in cases such as this, which closely mirrored those that were being made in Connecticut at the same time.
