Künstlerinfo: Johann Philipp Ferdinand Preiss (Erbach 1882 bis 1943 Berlin) bedeutender dt. Bildhauer und Elfenbeinschnitzer, Schüler von Phillipp Willmann, Studienreisen nach Mailand, Rom und Paris, tätig in Berlin, dort Gründung der eigenen Firma Preiss & Kassler, deren Kollektion anfangs Kleinplastiken aus Elfenbein, u. a. Kinderstatuetten und Skulpturen, umfasste, ab 1910 entstanden die ersten Kombinationsplastiken aus Bronze mit Elfenbein.
