Geschnitztes Memento mori - Geschnitztes Memento mori wohl 19. Jh., Laubholz massiv, beschnitzt, dunkel gebeizt, in Anlehnung an Tilman Riemenschneiders Darstellung des Heiligen Urban, zeigt dieses plastische Schnitzwerk den einstigen Papst als Januskopf unter seiner mächtigen Mitra, der einerseits aus Fleisch und Blut und andererseits lediglich aus seinem Knochengestell besteht, stärkere Erhaltungsmängel, Altersspuren, H 60 cm. Carved memento mori probably 19th century, solid hardwood, carved, darkly stained, modelled on Tilman Riemenschneider’s depiction of Saint Urban; this sculptural carving depicts the former Pope as a Janus-like figure beneath his imposing mitre, consisting on the one hand of flesh and blood and on the other of nothing but his skeletal frame; shows significant signs of deterioration and ageing; H 60 cm.
