Volkstedt ballerina Oldest Volkstedt porcelain manufactory, underglaze blue mirror mark 1915-1934, naturalistic modelling with polychrome overglaze painting and gold decoration, standing in a dancing pose on a moulded round plinth with a beaded border and a tree-trunk support adorned with flowers, a ballet dancer in a voluminous lace dress with small fairy wings and appliqué rose petals; likely a depiction of the Austrian ballerina Fanny Elßler (1810-1884) as Giselle from the ballet of the same name; a rare piece; the lace and floral trim show minimal wear, otherwise in good condition for its age; H 36 cm.
