First Time in Bidspirit! Zera Emet by Chacham Masoud Zarbiv - Livorno, 1851. Singe Edition - Sefer Zera Emet on the Torah by Rabbi Masoud of Constantine. The book was written in 1715 but was published only in 1851 in Livorno by Chacham Chaviv Toledano. The Press of Eliezer Menachem Ottolongi. A rare book which we could not find in Bidspirit. The author: Chacham Masoud Zarbiv known as Rabbi Masoud al Chassid was born in 1655 in Constantine, Algeria. He lived a life of bitter misery having lost his fourteen children. He authored the book Zera Emet to compensate for the loss of his children. Eventually, he had another son who studied and taught Torah. In his old age, he was arrested by the authorities and received a punishment of 400 lashes with a wooden stick, which he miraculously survived. Sefer Zera Emet: He finished writing the book Zera Emet on the Torah on Adar 15, 1715 implied by the verse: כי מכל צרה הצילני' and 'עמו אנוכי בצרה'. We do not know when he passed away yet the book was published many years after his passing, in 1851 in Livorno by Chacham Chaviv Toledano. [1], 3-79 leaves.
