The First of the Chalukah of Kuntresim: Ma'amar Hechaltzu - Ranat, Given Directly by the Rebbe - Cheshvan, 1987 - On Thursday, the 20th of Cheshvan 1988, the Rebbe handed out the Hechaltzu (Ranat) Kuntres by the Admor the Rashab. During the Chalukah, the Kuntresim ran out and the Chalukah was stopped. On that same night, thousands of additional Kuntresim were printed and the following day, Friday, the 21st of Cheshvan, the Rebbe continued with the Chalukah. This Chalukah was the first Chalukah of Kuntresim. Thursday, the 20th of Cheshvan 1988 After Keri'at HaTorah of the morning, the Admor continued the Chalukah of dollars which had begun yesterday. This time, thousands (!) stood in line to receive one and be blessed by him with ”א הצלחה'דיקער כ' חשון”, which led to much excitement. The great surprise, however, came in the evening... The Admor returned from the gravesite, which he had been visiting since noon, and an announcement was made: the Admor was about to hand out the Hechaltzu (Ranat) Kuntres - to boys over 12 years old and girls over 11 years old. There are no words that can describe the special atmosphere in the Crown Heights neighborhood at the time of the Chalukah. All residents of the neighborhood flocked to 770 and stood in endless lines along Eastern Parkway. It should be noted that this was the first time the Rebbe handed out a Kuntres to each and every one (not during a Fabreingen or guests or special events) and it was the onset of the Chalukah in this format. The Chalukah lasted for about an hour; with every one of the participants being blessed by the Rebbe with ”הצלחה'דיקער לערנען”, and would have continued if the Kuntresim had not run out. The secretariat informed the public that the Chalukah would continue the following day. The printing house above 770 (which was used to rush orders...) worked through the night to print thousands of additional Kuntresim. Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered in the Beit Midrash on 770 for a lesson on the Kuntres that had been handed out delivered by the Gaon Rabbi Yoel Cohen. Friday, the 21st of Cheshvan In the morning, even before the Admor reached 770, masses gathered to wait for the continued Chalukah. When the Admor arrived, he again handed out the Kuntres with the above blessings to the thousands who had assembled from all over New York. The unusual Chalukah lasted until noon. The Chalukah led to a renewed interest in studying Chassidut in general and Ahavat Yisrael, about which the Kuntres spoke, in particular. Since then, 770 began delivering many lessons on this Kuntres. It should be noted that the Rebbe asked the recipients of the Kuntres if they were of Bar Mitzvah age (Mazkeret Netzach - Chalukot Chabad). Enclosed is confirmation by the recipient Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch. This Kuntres is in a very good condition
