$50 Bill Given Directly by the Rebbe in Gratitude for an Article about the Dayan of London - Rabbi Moshe Avigdor Chaikin was a Chassid of the REbbe the Rashab. Served as Rav in Paris and London. Immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in his old age.  Was born on Kislev 2, 1851 to his father Rabbi Yisrael Sheraga, who was a Chassid of the Rebbe the Maharash and a Shochet and Bodek in Petersburg. He was a descendant of Avigdor Hamalshin and in his youth, merited varied Keiruvim by the Admor the Tzemach Tzeddek. Chassidim used to say that he was an indication of the verse: 'כי לא ידח ממנו נידח' [so that no one may be kept banished].  At a young age received his Rabbinic Semicha from leading contemporary rabbis - Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Diskin, Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Spektor and Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Widrovich. Married Mrs. Tana Rivkah, the daughter of Rabbi Shneur Zalman Pinsker of Charson.  Following a series of pogroms in Russia, he moved to Paris, where in 1884, he was appointed as the Rav of the Russian-Polish Jewish community. When the Rebbe the Rashab visited Paris, he studied Divrei Elokim Chaim with him.  Later, he moved to London, where he was appointed Mara DeAtra.  The bill was given by the Rebbe, via Rabbi Gruner, to Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch, who researched the subject, and whose article was published in Kefar Chabad issue 637.
