Sefer Tzurat HaAretz LIgvuloteha Saviv Vetochnit Habayit by HaGra. First Edition - Shklow, 1702 - HaGra's commentary on chapters of Sefer Yehoshua, Melachim and Yechezkel dealing with the country's borders and the form of the first and third Temple. [Without the plate of the maps].  The commentary on Yechezkel was printed based on a manuscript by HaGra whereas the commentaries on Yehoshua and Melachim were said by him in his old age to his disciple the Mekubal Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklow, who was the one who wrote them down (see: Rabbi David Kamnetzki, Torat HaGra, pp. 329-330).  The book was edited by HaGra's sons and by his disicple Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklow. In their foreword to the book, they praise HaGra, writing at length about his greatness:  ”ומי יוכל לשער עומק לבבו ועוצם חריפותו ובקיאותו בנגלה ובנסתר, רב האי גאון הוא אדונינו גאון עוזינו שהיה מחמד עינינו ותפארתנו, אור שבעת הימים בוצינא קדישא אור צח ומצוחצח א”א מו”ר [אדונינו אבינו מורם ורבם] של כל בני הגולה רבינו אליהו זצוק”ל אשר בחיים חיותו היה שמו הולך מסוף העולם ועד סופו אשר היה כאחד הצבאים מצבא מרום ותורה יבקשו מפיהו כי מלאך ה' צבאות הוא... ומשנתו היתה סדורה לו בפיו ובלבבו כל תלמוד בבלי וירושלמי עם כל הפוסקים ראשונים ואחרונים וספרא וספרי ותוספתות ומכילתא וכל המדרשים וזוהר ותיקונים וז”ח ור”מ [וזוהר חדש ורעיא מהימנא] וספרא דצניעותא וספר יצירה... מעשה בראשית ומעשה מרכבה... ותרב חכמתו מכמה דורות שהיו לפניו ומעת רבנן סבוראי והגאונים לא קם כמוהו ברבוי חבורים בתורה שבכתב ושבע”פ... וכל חבוריו המה כטיפה מן הים הגדול נגד רוב חכמתו...”. 42, 39-40 leaves. Without the plate (which is missing from most copies). 20 cm. Thick bluish paper. Fair condiiton. Stains. Moth. An open tear to the title page. Loose copy without a binding.
