Coy of the Author of the Klilas Yoffi On the Flyleaf Praise for Him Being Released from the French Prison - Torat Chaim Frankfurt an der Oder 1734 - Sefer Torat Chaim by Rabbi Avraham Chaim Schor Av Beis Din fo Belz and Satanov, the brother of the Tevu'os Schor.  Copy of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Luntshitz Av Beis Din of Westhoffen, grandson of the Kli Yakar.  The Klilas Yoffi was known for his war against the new calendar that was institutted during the French Revolution and made it difficult to observe the Sabbath. Due to his objection, he was imprisoned and, as he notes, was in grave danger.  On the flyleaf, alongside a dedication by the Rav, there are words of gratitude from the Nishmat prayer: ” לפיכך אנחנו חייבים להודות ”, possibly written with his release from prison.  It should be noted that the Nishmat prayer is attributed to Shimon Keifa, who was sent by the Sages to Christian strongholds to convince them to make Sunday their day of rest and distinguish them from the Jews, whose day of rest was Sabbath. The war of the owner of the copy, the Klilas Yoffi, was over the same point exactly.  On the title page, his handwritten signatrure: ”אברהם יצחק לונטשיץ”; on the back fkykeaf, a scholarly gloss.  Additional ownership notations.  Wear and open tears to title page.
