Script of the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Zakheim of Ruzhin in a Letter to the Tzaddik Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Greiditz - 1853 - Fine and fascinating letter by the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Meir Cohen, the Maggid of Pinsk , to the Gaon wonder-worker Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Greiditz .   The letter was sent on Av 1, and it begins with superlatives to describe the Tzaddik of Greiditz.  Between the lines, one can read that Rabbi Yisroel Meir asked Rabbi Eliyahu to bless him with Zera shel Kodesh and Rabbi Eliyahu, in return, sent him special instructions including to donate to the poor of Eretz Yisrael through the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Zakheim Av Beis Din of Pinsk from Ruzhin.  Rabbi Yisroel Meir writes:  ... עשיתי כל אשר נצטוויתי מפומיה דמר ונתתי תיכף הסך י”ב רו”כ לכבוד אדומו”ר הגאון דפה רבי מרדכי שיחי' וכתב לי קבלה בכ”י הטהורה כאשר תיחזנה עיני דמר ... ” On the second part of the leaf, there is confirmation handwritten by Rabbi Mordechai Zakheim that he received from Rabbi Yisroel Meir Cohen the amount of twelve Ruble: ”כפי אשר נצטווה במכתב הה”ג המפורסם ר' אלי' שי' האבד”ק גרידיץ הסמוכה לפינסק”  and intends to send them immediately: באופן שיגיעו קודם ר”ה הבע”ל לשם ושיתחלקו שלושת הכוללים בזה כפי רצון הד”ג הנ”ל שיחי'... ” . His handwritten signature: ”נאם מרדכי מראבינאץ החופ”ק הנ”ל” The Gaon and Mekubal Rabbi Mordechai Zakheim Av Beis Din of Pinsk (d. 1858) was a famed contemporary Gaon. Served as Av Beis Din of Ruzhin and then Pinsk, where he befriended the Beis Aharon of Karlin. Rabbeinu was the Rav of the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Ushminer of Slonim/  [1] leaf. 21X25.5 cm.  Very good condition. Tears to the upper edge reinforced with tape.
