On the flyleaf, signature of Rabbi Nachman Batito.
Rabbi Nachman Batito (1845-1915) the leader of the rabbis of the Sephardic community of Jerusalem, Chacham Bashi and the Rishon LeZion.
The difficult situation of Jerusalem during World War I made him sick and he passed away in 1915. Written on his gravestone:
"ציון במר תבכה וירושלים תתן קולה על האי שופרא דבלי ארעא. דרופקתא דאוריתא. צדיק וענו מדוכא בייסורים עומד בפרץ ירושלים. ראש רבני בני מערבא וראשון לציון, הרב הגאון המפורסם כמוהר"ר נחמן בטיטו זצ"ל"
