(265) GREGSON À PARIS, ENAMELED WATCH WITH PEARL BORDER, QUARTER REPEATER, 1780-1795 - Guilloché back under blue translucent enamel with a painted motif depicting 2 mythological figures: a man and a woman in front of an altar and a portico, bordered by flourishes and set with small diamonds. The outer border of the back and the bezel are set with half pearls, the middle part is engraved with geometric motifs, long pendant with pusher for the repetition release. Gold hands. Movement: pillar movement, verge escapement, winding with chain and fusee, hand-setting with key, balance cock pierced and engraved, silver regulating rosette, movement plate signed: Gregson à Paris, quarter repetition on bell. D: 51.4 mm, H: 11.6 mm (without glass), 108g Prof. André Curtit wrote in the 90s: Piece in perfect state of preservation and function. Since then, the watch has been kept in a showcase.
