(262) GOLD CHATELAINE WATCH, LATE 18TH CENTURY - Watch with medallion, very fine camaieu painting in black and grey, depicting love: a woman surrounded by a cupid, 2 doves and a dolphin. White enamel dial, gilt brass hands, Louis XVI style, engraved and pierced. Movement: pillar movement, verge escapement, chain and fusee, balance cock made of pierced and engraved brass, silver regulating rosette, winding with keys. Watch has neither mark nor stamp, probably a Geneva or Parisian make. Belt chain with 2 camaieu-painted medallions, with 3 chatelaines, the ring for the watch and the key, all connected by 12 small engraved chains in forget-me-not shape, pierced and enameled. The upper medallion depicts a nude woman with Cupid, the middle one shows a sleeping nude woman with a Cupid and a little devil. 2 of the small chatelaines with angel depictions, the third chatelaine in the shape of a bellows with the possibility of opening it, the lid depicts a cherub and on the bottom is a small landscape.
