TABLE CLOCK BY JACOB MAYR (1648-1714) - Augsburg, signed, early 18th century. Gilded brass case, hexagonal shape, small rectangular window on each side, standing on 3 feet, top engraved, the striking bell is on the base. Dial: Engraved silver, signed: ”Mair Fecit”, hands: gilded brass. Movement: With verge escapement, fusee and chain, large circular balance, steel balance spring, loose coils, large tooth-footed brass balance cock, redrilled and engraved, hour striking mechanism via count wheel, mechanism fully engraved, signed on the plate. 9 x 14 x 12 cm Prof. André Curtit wrote in his expertise in 1995: ”Piece in perfect condition, good function, but requires an overhaul.” Since then, the clock has been in a display case and hardly touched.
