Yuri Ivanovych KHYMYCH (1928-2003) - River Onega Gouache on paper, signed, 1960's 44 x 64 cm Against a light-blue sky, a wooden church complex is depicted in a free, painterly manner. In the foreground lies a stretch of water with dark-blue reflections. In the middle plane, almost in the center of the composition, stands a one-storey wooden house with a double-pitched roof in bluish tones on a yellowish-green riverbank. Behind it, slightly to the left, rises a wooden church of similar color, consisting of two volumes under double-pitched roofs. The rearmost and tallest structure is topped with an onion-shaped dome, while the nearer, lower part is covered with a tented roof supported by a frame structure. In the distance, a thin, light-blue strip of water is visible. In the lower right corner, the artist’s signature appears in graphite pencil: Khymich.
