Comments/description: Lovely portrait of, presumably, a beautiful Gypsy (Roma) woman signed by Asti. Asti is most well-known in breweriana circles as having painted stock tray images, most notably the ubiquitous Feigenspan trays from pre-prohibition to the 1940s. Gypsies were a very popular and intriguing subject during the 1890s and 1900s because of their nomadic lifestyles and tendency to not conform to societal norms of the time, which were fairly constraining. The only note is an area of creasing that has broken the surface of the paper on her chest at lower left. Displays beautifully.
