Bidspirit auction | Carnegie Beer 1930s Reverse-Painted Glass
Carnegie Beer 1930s Reverse-Painted Glass Lighted Sign With Clock - Brewer/Business Name: Chartiers Valley Brewery, Carnegie, Pennsylvania Manufacturer/Plant: Unknown Date of manufacture: circa 1930s Contents/Type: n/a Dimensions: 18-1/2 w x 9-1/2 h x 4-1/4. Comments/description: This sign is loaded with Deco-inspired curvilinear style accents on the base and shape of the glass insert. The clock works are mounted to a red steel backing plate that shows through the glass, creating the red background. Reverse-painted elements include the white border, lettering, and clock face. The border and brand lettering are also etched, so they still catch some light when lit even though the paint is missing or lifted in some areas. The BEST OF ALL insert in the base is also reverse-painted glass and appears to have been repainted around THE BE where there is a notable color mismatch. The second hand does not move when powered on, though we did not leave the item plugged in long enough to determine whether the other hands operate. It lights as intended. Produced by Crystal Manufacturing Co. of Chicago and New York. All items are original unless otherwise noted. For questions, feedback, or to sell a similar item contact Dan via email .
