Show-Pak Plastic Beer Packaging Salesman Sample Suitcase REGAL PALE SCHLITZ BURGIE - Brewer/Business Name: Bruce Engineering Corp., Pasadena, California Manufacturer/Plant: Unknown Date of manufacture: circa 1950s Contents/Type: n/a Dimensions: 16-1/2 w x 6 h x 15 d. Comments/description: This salesman sample suitcase was likely carried by employees of Bruce Engineering Corp. who filed and owned the patent for the plastic packaging and dividers for the containers within, branded as Show-Pak, presumably because it enabled the consumer to see the product they were buying rather than having it hidden within a cardboard box or carrier. These samples show the very simplest, most generic form with no branding and a more advanced, fully-printed/branded offering as used on the Burgermeister cans. The Burgie cans are minty and air sealed, USBC 46-35 while the Schlitz 4-pack is comprised of opened non-IRTP cans from Milwaukee although the cans are too tightly packed to rotate them to see the copyright at the seam and determine USBC number. Note that they have taller upper and lowercase text below the logo on the front. Bottles are copyright 1949 so the cans likely are too. Schlitz cans have some aging/humidity to them. The Regal bottles are very nice while the Schlitz quarts have some wear and minor tears. All have crowns. The case has wear as shown though it operates properly and appears to have all the original components and finishes. A very rare and unusual piece, probably unique!
