Signature and notes of Rabbi Zalman Susya Mali of Minsk on Midrash Rabot, Warsaw 1889
First section. Stamps and signatures, handwritten notes by Rabbi Zalman Susya Mali (died 1924), born in Halosk adjacent to Minsk. His father was Rabbi Moshe Mali, who moved to Jerusalem and is buried on the Mt. of Olives. Rabbi Zalman Susya served as rabbi of Neustadt in the Minsk region for around 40 years. His son Yaakov Moshe Mali served as head of the Religious Council of Haifa and wrote of him that “the love of the Land of Israel was deep in his heart since his childhood”, but he never managed to move to Israel and is buried in Minsk. Some of his chiddushim were published in the work Derech HaAdam (Vilna 1912), and a few of his chiddushim are mentioned in Sdei Chemed. Title page is torn. Tears in the margins of the first pages, otherwise overall good condition.
