Washington 1942. - Pocket Bible, translated into English, for Jewish soldiers fighting in the American army during WWII. 512 pages. Binding has an inscription “Jewish Holy Scriptures”. At the beginning is a statement from the American President at the White Houes, for soldiers, praising their religious beliefs and their reading of Scripture, in which one can find “wisdom and resourcefulness, and which function as a source of strength and spiritual inspiration.” The last page have words of praise from the army’s rabbinical chaplaincy. Original binding with inscriptions, stains, and wear. Frayed spine, overall good condition. 8x13.5cm.
