Letter signed by Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shapira, head of the Beer Yaakov yeshiva. Beer Yaakov 1959. - Letter of thanks for a donation given by Rabbi Meir Wander, signed by Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shapira, head of the Beer Yaakov yeshiva. Sent following a fire which had broken out in the yeshiva on the night of Yom Kippur, after which a fund was opened to repair the damage. The rabbi writes: “and to express to his honor the best kinds of gratitude and blessings for his donation…to repair the destruction in the yeshiva, after the fire started by Hashem on the eve of Yom Kippur. So that, chas v’, the kol hatorah does not decrease…”. Letter has an official receipt attached. 17x19cm. Filing holes, good condition. Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shapira (1917-2006) studied in Baranowicze under Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman, and after moving to Israel studied in the Lomza yeshiva. In 1949 he was appointed (with the recommendation of the Chazon Ish) as head of the Beer Yaakov yeshiva, which he led for more than 50 years until his death. The Chazon Ish said of him: “He is a neshama from the olam ha’atzilut”. He was a member of the Council of Torah Sages and a leader of the Eida.
