Unknown Variant! Basic Book: Tosefer Shabbat - First Edition - Frankfurt an der Oder 1767
Sefer Tosefer Shabbat, halachic work of Dinei Shabbat, by the Gaon Rabbi Raphael Meislish Rosh Av Beit Din of Harchov. First Edition in the author's lifetime, Frankfurt an der Oder 1767. [2], 4-142 leaves. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod 199. New binding. Stains. Darkened leaves. Some moth perforations and damage. Good overall condition.
Unknown variant: This copy is different from the other copies of the book. The design of the border of the title page is different. In addition, the notation on the lower part of the title page is also different (possibly being the reason it was published separately): "שבכל מקום שנמצא בספר זה עבודת אלילים או עבודה זרה או אומה... ואינו נוגע בשום פנים אל האומות אשר אנחנו מפוזרים ביניהם כי הם מאמינים בהשגחת השי"ת...". In addition, the verso of the title page with the approbations differs in its content from other copies; on its lower part it was written: "I have the approbations by the Geonim of Poland and the approbation by the Gaon Rav of Amsterdam (referring, apparently, to Rabbi Shaul, the Binyan Ariel) and they were all printed in the books I will be selling and have already sold and now that I am printing the first leaf only (it indeed seems that the title page differs in color from the other leaves of the book) I edited two hundred (!) ... and I could not afford to print them all so printed only few..."
The importance of the book: Learners liked the book Tosefet Shabbat. In it, the writer disagrees with his predecessors, even the Magen Avraham, who was considered a foremost Posek. Possibly, because of this it was accepted enthusiastically by the learners, with even the Noda BiYehuda, the Pri Megadim and the Chida quoting it in their books.
Many approbations (as stated, not all of them appearing here) by leading Geonim and rabbis. In addiiton, a warm, rhymed approbation by Rabbi Yechezkel Segal Lnadau, the Nodah BiYehuda who nottes: "וכל דבריו בדעת ובחכמה, ויש לו שיקול הדעת נכונה, שואל ומשיב כעניינא, ומלבד השכל הישר אשר לו למנה, גם בקיאות בדברי הש"ס והפוסקים קנה..." .
