Rare Post-Incunabula Book: First Edition of the Commentary of Rabbi Eliyahu Mizrachi [the Re'em] on Rashi on the Torah - Venice, 1527
The famed and basic work by Rabbi Eliyahu Mizrachi [the Re'em] with his commentary on Rashi on the Torah. First edition, the press of Daniel Bomberg, Venice, 1527. Appearing in Parashat Masei is a map of the Land of Israel, the first Hebrew map that was published (in this copy, the map was bound upside down). Stefansky Sifrei Yesod 10.
In this copy, the title page and following leaf are missing, 1 leaf of Parashat Emor and the last 7 leaves. 4 leaves of Parashat Vayikra were completed by hand. Possibly there are additional missing leaves. Has not been studied page-by-page. Stains. Moth perforations and damage, mainly close to the spine. Tears and scuffs to the margins, especially of the first leaves, affecting the text. Old, worn binding with a leather spine. Mostly in good condition.
In Parashat Shelach, a handwritten gloss beginning with "אא"ע" - trimmed at the left.
