Grammar Polemic! The Dispute between the Yavetz and the Razah: Sefer Tzach Sefatayim - Single Edition Zholkva, 1810

Sefer Tzach Sefatayim, "containing all the wisdom of grammar" by Rabbi Shimon Levi ben Eliezer Pulmer - Single Edition Zholkva, 1810. [1], 40 leaves. Originally, there was an additional half-title, not in this copy.

Machloket Leshem Shamayim!

In 1725, the book Sha'arei Tefillah by the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Hanau Katz (known as the Razah) was published. In it, he claimed that there were grammatical errors in the accepted version of the prayer and suggested in some cases to change the version. This upset the Gaon the Yavetz and he published a sharp, poetic work titled Luach Eres, which was printed earlier at the end of his book Lechem Shamayim. The Razah, in response, published the work Michseh Lateivah (printed in his work Tzohar Lateivah) which contained answers to the Yavetz's critique. This work supports the Yavetz, praising his grammatical knowledge and refuting what was written in Michseh Lateivah. It should be noted that nevertheless, some of the Razah's corrections were indeed introduced into the version of the prayer.
