Rare! With the Author's Dedication: Habikurim Vehare'ayon - Jerusalem, 1879 - Habikurim Vehare'ayon, compilation of reviews of several works in Jewish studies, penned by Rabbi David Shifman, Dayan and Moreh Tzeddek of Tiberius. This work was the first of its kind to be published in Eretz Yisrael, generating widespread interest abroad. The author stated it was a first Kovetz (apparently intending to publish additional ones; yet, eventually, this was the only one that was published).  Single edition at the press of Eliyahu and Moshe Chai, the sons of Rabbi Avraham Sasson. Jerusalem, 1879. [6], 3-42 leaves. Rare book; due to it being printed on brittle paper not many copies had survived. This copy too was printed on very brittle paper in an original, detached binding and with detached leaves. Tears, mainly along the edges affecting the text in some places. Stains. Fair overall condition.  With approbations by leading contemporary rabbis of Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and Tiberius including by Rabbi Shmuel Salant, Rabbi David ben Shimon (the Dvash), Rabbi Eliyahu Saliman Manny and more. The book has two title pages, the second printed across the page on leaf [6b]. At the beginning of the work itslef, a dedication handwritten by the author to David Strauss. On the last page, Strauss' address in Bamberg, Germany.  The work is divided into five Kuntresim:  Mevo Be'er Lechai Ro'i - on Sefer Mevo Hamishnah by Rabbi Yaakov Brill.  Bnei David Cohanim - on Sefer Avodat Haleviyim.  Besorah Motzet - by Rabbi David Tevli. Ledavid Beshanoto et Hata'am Leshad - on Sefer Ta'am Leshad.  Haro'eh et Hanolad - on Sefer Toldot Rabbeinu Zerachya Halevi.
