Fine Copy in an Ancient Leather-Covered Wooden Binding: Volume with Two Sections of the Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat with an Approbation by the Pnei Yehoshua - Hamburg, 1742 - ”ונתת אל חשן המשפט את האורים ואת התומים...” - Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat with the famed commentators, Sefer Me'irat Einayim, the Shach, the Taz with the glosses of Chacham Zvi and Be'er Hagolah. The book also contains approbations by leading contemporary rabbis headed by Rabbeinu ”Yaakov Yosha of Krakow now here in Frankfurt am Main” - the author of the Pnei Yehoshua.  Two title pages for the two sections with an identical illustrated title page (with the figures of Moshe and Aharon); the version of the title page of section II, however, is abridged: ”as elucidated in the first title page” and the place and year of printing were omitted. The Press of Rabbi Aharon ben Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Dessau. Hamburg - 1742. (Section I): Siman 1-132. [1], 5, 340, 5, [3] leaves. Section II: Siman 133-427. [1], 341-608, 6-15 leaves. 35 cm. Leather-covered wooden binding, with traces of contemporary metal buckles. New fabric spine. On verso of the boards, leaves of previous editions are mounted. Stains and minor blemishes. Very good overall condition, rare for such a book.  Signatures and notations:  - On the title page, an ancient ownership notation: ”הספר היקר הלז נפל בגורלי מעזבון אח המנוח הרב המאור הגדול בוצינא קדישא החסיד נ”י עה”י פ”ה מהור”ר שמואל ווארבורג זלה”ה אב”ד דק”ק געלנהוזען מהרהאלץ ואגפיה. הקטן יעקב ראובנזאהן” - On both title pages and on the leaf following the first title page, a signature: ”קנין כספי הוא זה, הק' גומפריך הלוי”. - On the following leaf: ” קניתי מעזבון המנוח כ”ה גומפריך ז”ל, שהי' ש”ץ פה קהילתינו... כ”ג אייר תקכ”ג, הק' שמעון בהר”א ז”ל וורבורג”. - 2 ancient glosses on the margins of the leaves.  The Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Warburg (d. 1820) Av Beit Din of Gelnhausen, Germany, who was known as Baal Shem. The son-in-law of Rabbi Binyamin Frankel of Henau. His son-in-law was the Naggid Rabbi Avraham Behrend, the son of Rabbi Berish Av Beit Din of Hanover and the Pnei Yehoshua's grandson.
