Hundreds of Glosses Referring to Ashkenazic Customs and Additional Fascinating Content: Maginei Eretz (Shulchan Aruch) First Edition of Even HaOzer Fine Copy - Amsterdam, 1754 - Amal Torah! The book contains dozens of comments, corrections and glosses, some of them lengthy and significant, on the margins of the sheet, in ancient Ashkenazic script, indicating the Amal Torah and understanding of its owner. The glosses are in several types of script and ink and most of them are ancient. Many of them were handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Shmuel Schwabach of Furth and others by another writer of writers.  The Torah and customs of Ashkenaz On the title page of the book and on its last leaf, the handwritten signatures of the  Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Shmuel Schwabach, Av Beit Din of the Schwarzwald district of Germany. Throughout the book, many important glosses (please see Hebrew catalog text for some examples).  The book and its importance A fine early edition of Sefer Maginei Eretz, containing the Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim with Turei Zahav and Magen Avraham, with Pri Chadash and the first edition of Even HaOzer. Two title pages, the first a wood-engraved illustration of the four shepherds: Moshe, Aharon, Yosef and David, each one of them wearing one of the four crowns of Torah, Kehuna, etc. A copy with fine wide margins. Ancient leather binding. Many marks of usage. Stains, some blemishes and small tears - to the first title page also. Some moth perforations. Good overall condition. 39 cm.
