Rare! The First Chumash that was Published with Maor Vashemesh - from the Library of the Admor of Ger the Imrei Emet. Chumash Bereshit with Or Hachaim and Maor Vashemesh - Lemberg, 1863 - ”Sefer Bereshit with three translations and Rashi's commentary and Siftei Chachamim and Baal Haturim and a commentary on Targum Yonatan and Yerushalmi and with Or Hachaim and Maor Vashemesh... and Seder Hatefillah for all Sabbaths of the year . The Press of the rabbinic Pinchas Moshe and his wife Mrs. Pesel Balavan. Lemberg - 1863. [339], [12] leaves. Stains, taping and some tears, affecting the text in some places. Old, worn binding. Other minor blemishes. Good overall condition.  Pedigreed On the spine of the book, labels of the library of the Admor of Ger the Imrei Emet and his son, the Admor the Pnei Menachem. It is obvious that both the Chumash and the Siddur were frequently used.    Rare Chumash! Printed for the first time in this Chumash is the famed Chassidic work Maor Vashemesh alongside the Chumash and the Or Hachaim commentary. It should be noted that so far, the Lviv 1870 edition was considered the first to include the Ma'or Vashemesh commentary in the Chumash (see: Stefansky, Chassidut 219). Yet this is an edition of a Chumash that was published 7 years earlier! The National Library of Jerusalem does not have the section of Bereshit of this Chumash and the other sections it has are incomplete. This Chumash is extremely rare and has never been auctioned.  Approbations Due to lack of bibliographic records of this Chumash, and since it was not seen by contemporary bibliographers, the leaves with the foreword and approbations appearing at its beginning were not recorded. On the first leaf, the printer, Rabbi Pinchas Moshe Balavan, states that he bought the printing rights from Rabbi Aharon Halevi Epstein, the author's son. Printed with it are the approbations from the first edition of the Ma'or Vashemesh including an approbation by Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Lifshitz of Jeroslev Av Beit Din of Vizhnitz author of Aryeh Dvei Ilai, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Heller of Bonyhad, Rabbi Dov Ber Meislis of Krakow and Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Tiktin of Breslau. Also printed is a foreword by the son of the author of Ma'or Vashemesh, also from its first edition, and Rabbeinu Or Hachaim's introduction to his work.
