Lengthy and Fascinating Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Dov Glickson, the Son-in-Law of Maran Rabbi Chaim of Brisk - Warsaw, 1928 - Lengthy letter - by the famed Gaon Rabbi Zvi Dov Glickson, the Rosh Yeshiva of Torat Chaim of Warsaw and the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk - addressed to his relative, Rabbi Meir Berlin (Bar Ilan), the son of Rabbeinu the Natziv of Volozhin - with fascinating details about his yeshiva and his father-in-law - Warsaw, 1928.  In his letter, Rabbeinu asks Rabbi Bar Ilan to help him obtain a visa to the USA so he could go there to raise funds for the Torat Chaim Yeshiva. By the way, Rabbeinu describes the situation of his yeshiva telling him that the yeshiva has approx. three hundred students and Avreichim most of them talented, sharo and knowledgeable and that many of them already hold rabbinic positions: ”כי כבר נתחנכו ע”י תלמידים לאלפים וגם כעת לומדים בקרבה ערך שלש מאות בחורי חמד ואברכים, רובם בעלי כשרונות, חריפים ובקיאים במלא מובן המלה... כבר נתכהנו הרבה מהם במשרות כבודות שונות: קצתם בכתר הרבנות... ואעידה ע”י עדים נאמנים הקהילות אשר ישרתו בם בקודש” וואיסלאוויץ - ראדום - אסזביץ ועוד ועוד - וגם בקהילות חו”ל...”.  Later, Rabbeinu writes words indicating his deep appreciation of his in-law and Rav: ”ובזה הם מפרסמים ומקדשים את שמו הגדול ודרכו החדשה של כבוד מו”ח הגאן החסיד האמיתי רבינו שבגולה זצלה”ה...”. Rabbi Glickson also refers to their mutual revered pedigree: ”ואם לא למעני יעש יחוס נא עלינו בשביל אבותינו הקדושים רבותינו מוואלוז'ין נ”ע”. 21X28 cm.  Fold lines. Good condition.  The Gaon Rabbi Zvi Dov, Hirsch Ber, Halevi Glickson (ca. 1880-perished in the Holocaust) was born in Warsaw to Rabbi Avraham Yaakov who was a Chassid of the AvNei Nezer. Already as a child was known as an Iluy and when he reached his Bar Mitzvah he already finished the entire Shas! In Warsaw, he met the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, who used to come to Warsaw often and who chose him to be his only daughter's bridegroom. After Ravbbi Chaim's passing, a yeshiva in his memory was founded in Warsaw, his son Maran the Griz and his son-in-law, Rabbi Hirsch Ber Glickson serving as its Rashei Yeshiva. When Maran the Griz became Av Beit Din of Brisk, Rabbeinu remained the only Rosh Yeshiva, teaching his in-law's way of teaching for approx. twenty years. He perished in the Holocaust.
