Letter Signed by the Rabbis of Hebron, the Chassid Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Slonim, the Rosh Yeshiva of Torat Emet and the Gaon Rabbi Meir Franco - Hebron, 1922 - Lengthy and fascinating letter - signed by the rabbis of Hebron - the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Slonim and the Gaon Rabbi Meir Franco - addressed to the members of the HaMizrachi Board in Jerusalem - Hebron, 1922. In their letter, the rabbis complain about the discriminatory attitude of the HaMizrachi Board towards the rabbis and Beit Din of Hebron, despite the success of the rabbinic institution in Hebron: ”דווקא בפה בחברון הצליח קודם בידינו לסדר ”משרד רבנים” יפה ומשוכלל עד שהיה ראוי להיות למופת ודוגמא למקומות יותר גדולים בידינו עלה לבסס את הכח החרדי הדתי והמסורתי הצלחנו לבטל את ”משפט השלום” הידוע באי התאמתו לרוחנו.... ולבקשכם שבאותו המרץ והכח שיכלתם לבא לעזרת משרדי הרבנות והבד”ץ שבירושלים... ככה תשתדלו ותשיגו תקציב קבוע ומספיק...”. The Chassid Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Slonim (1881-1938), the Rosh Yeshiva of Torat Emet of Hebron and Av Beit Din of the Ashkenazic community of the town. Was the grandson of the pious Rebbetzin Menucha Rachel and her forefathers the Mitteler Admor and the Admor Hazaken Baal Hatanya. Was the representative of the Admor the Rashab in Hebron. He was the one who thought of bringing the Hebron Knesset Yisrael Yeshiva to the town. He miraculously survived the 1929 Riots yet lost several members of his family. The Gaon Rabbi Meir Franco (1866-1930), the Rav of the Sephardic community of Hebron, Dayan of the Beit Din of Rabbeinu the Sdeh Chemed and his right hand man and confidante. Published his father's book Sha'arei Rachamim to whih he added some of his own Divrei Torah.
