Sharp Letter of Protest Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Michl Tikuchinsky - Jerusalem, 1923 - הרק כבוד מנהלי מוסדות הישוב הישן מותר לעפר בעפר?  (Can dirt be thrown only at the honor of the institution managers of the Old Yishuv?) - Sharp letter of protest by the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Michl Tikuchinsky, the Rosh yeshiva of Etz Chaim, about an article against the Etz Chaim Yeshiva that was published in the Hator journal of HaMizrachi - Jerusalem, 1923.  The letter implies that the Hator journal published an article slandering the Etz Chaim Yeshiva which Rabbeinu was its manager. The yeshiva published a sharp letter of protest against the journal, whose editor was Harav Maimon. In response Harav Maimon sent Rabbeinu a letter of protest, which was answered by Rabbi Tikuchinsky with this letter: ”Honorable Rav, in response to his letter... the version clarifying things was phrased by us, not by the scribe. It seems that there are no ”crude mistakes” in it... it is obvious that had the Hator not, in such a strange manner, addressed and offended the management which cannot be blamed for the matter at all and of course there is no desire to offend the dignity of the ”party”... why should the management not be allowed to add things which are more polite than the attack of Hator? Can dirt be thrown only at the honor of the institution managers of the Old Yishuv?...” Official stationery of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva, written on both sides.  16X18.5 cm.  Good condition.  The Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Michl Tikuchinsky (1872-1955), a wondrous Gaon, the head and manager of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva and author of the Eretz Yisrael calendar and many Halachic Sifrei Yesod. Received his Hora'ah Semicha from Rabbi Shmuel Salant, the Rav of Jerusalem and married his great-granddaughter.
