Sefer Yesod Signed by Rabbi Shmuel Salant Mara DeAra DeYisrael: Two Sections of Sefer Beit Yaakov by Rabbi Yaakov of Lissa - First Edition Harobashov, 1822 - Two Sections of Sefer Beit Yaakov, the famed and fundamental work on the Shulchan Aruch Even HaEzer and Masechet Ketubot by Rabbi Yaakov Lorberbaum of Lissa who was known as Baal Hanetovot after his book the Netivot Hamishpat. First edition , at the press of Rabbi Moshe Tzikor and Rabbi Shlomo Low of Lashtzov, Harobashov, 1822. [2], 32, [2], 52 leaves (based on the binding of this copy; in practice, the sections were bound here in reverse order). Separate title page for each section. Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod 93 . Some tears and taping. Moth perforations. Stains and other minor blemishes. Some damage to text. Trimmed headings in several leaves. Good overall condition.  On the top of the title page, the full handwritten signature of Rabbeinu: ”Shnuel Salant” handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel of Salant (1816-1909) the revered Rav of Jerusalem for over 70 years, and the leader of all Ashkenazic communities in Eretz Yisrael. Was famed as a Gaon and Iluy, already in his youth, At the age of Bar Mitzvah he received a letter from his Rav, Rabbi Abeli concerning a complicated divorce matter, indicating that his Rav trusted him as an outstanding Torah scholar even then. As a youth, he studied Chavruta with the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael of Salant [founder of the Mussar Movement]. He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1841, to serve as Rav of the Prushim community and founded education and charity institutes in the city, founded a Beit Din and strengthened the Ashkenazic community. Was famed for his shrewdness.  It should be noted that full handwritten signatures by Rabbeinu are extremely rare . After Rabbi Shmuel Salant's passing, the book was owned by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin (whose stamps have faded and are almost unreadable).
