Notation of Mugeh and the Price of the Book Handwritten by Rabbeinu the Chofetz Chaim on His Book Shem Olam - First Edition Warsaw, 1895-1897 - Shem Olam, Sefer Mussar by Rabbeinu Yisrael Meir Hacohen of Radin, author of the Chafetz Chaim. Two sections: the first about observing the Sabbath, doing charity and supporting Torah learners. The second is about strengthening in Avodat Hashem, ”and we have titled it by the befitting name of Sha'ar Hahitchazkut... and I have added at its end the Kuntres Nefotzot Yissrael...” - First edition, Warsaw - 1895-1897. With the leaves of omissions in the two sections. 31, [1]; 23 (paginated 43 by mistake), [1] leaves. Separate title page for the second section. Original binding with a leather spine, with minor blemishes. Stains. Good overall condiiton. On the flyleaf, 2 notations handwritten by Rabbeinu the author, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Hacohen of Radin, the Chofetz Chaim. One notation of ”מוגה” (prrofread) indicating Rabbeinu had proofread the book so as not to stumble in the iniquity of Gezel. And an additional notation with the price of the book: ”40 Kop [Kopecks]” - this sum is mentioned in one of Rabbeinu's letters as the price of the book including the bidning.
