Touching and Fascinating Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Friedling Av Beit Din of Biskovich Author of Ratz Katzvi - Biskovich, 1929 - ואינני מגזם חוט השערה - important and interesting letter - by the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Friedling Av Beit Din of Biskovich - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Yoffe Av Beit Din of Manchester - Biskovich, 1929 - two large pages handwritten and signed by him! In his letter, Rabbeinu describes the large fire in Biskovich that destroyed the synagogue and the Rav's house, forcing him to live in a dilapidated house of a non-Jew: ”בטח יודע כבודו... מהשריפה הגדולה אשר היתה פה לפני זמן אשר גם אז נשרף הבית הכנסת ובית הרב ומאז אין לי שום יכולת כלל להחזיר עטרה ליושנה לחזק בדק הבית, והנני מוכרח לגור בבית נכרי רעוע בדחקות גדול בגג שבור ומים נופלים לתוך הבית והטחב מלא על כל גדותיו שמבטל אותי מת”ת... וכשל כח הסבל...” .  Rabbeinu emphasizes that he is not asking for charity or a free gift. Rather, he has expedited the publishing of his books, which hopefully will enable him to retrieve the situation: ”כדי שלא להצריך לידי מתנת ב”א.. הוכרחתי להדפיס בהקפה.. את הספרים שלי אשר עוד מכבר התחלתי להדפיסם...”. Rabbeinu ends his letter with a touching promise: בכח התורה”ק ובכח אבותי הגה”ק מבטיחו כי זכות המצוה תעמוד לו בכל רגע....”. Rabbeinu enclosed with his letter a picture of the burned synagogue in Biskovich.  Official stationery, with an illustration of his books.  22X28.5 cm.  Fold lines. Good condition.  The Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Friedling (1884-1940) a Gaon and Talmid Chacham, Av Beit Din of Biskovich and publisher of the rabbinic journal HaBe'er for Halacha, Pilpul and Drush. Author of the books Ratz Katzvi and more. Perished in the Holocaust.
