Extremely Rare! ”And Especially for Those who Love Slabodka” Lengthy and Fascinating Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Grodzinsky - Lengthy letter with fascinating content of words of friendship and Mussar handwritten and signed by Rabbi Avraham Grodzinsky, addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Zissel Dvortz. At the beginning of his letter, Rabbeinu explains why he did not write a response letter to the addressee and states that he had taken his letters from the passing year with him to Pishtan, from where this letter was written and to where Rabbeinu moved for health reasons.  Among other, Rabbeinu writes: ”אודות אי קבלך תשובה ממני, כאלו היו שערי תשובה פתוחים לפני להשיב לכל שואלי דבר, ובפרט לאוהבי סלבודקה כמוך ... מה אומר לך אהובי, אם הייתי מאמין לתמימותך זה, מאד הייתי מצטער מדברים כאלה, אך להצלחתי אני אומר שרק לעורר באת – כנוסח הראוי לך – למען קבל איזה מכתב מאתנו...”. Rabbeinu writes that surely Rabbi Dvortz had heard about the terrible tragedy that had occurred, asking criticizingly why Rabbi Dvortz did not write him words of comfort and immeditaely defending him and writing that he had heard that Rabbi Dvortz was in pain and blessing him with a speedy recovery: ירפאהו השי”ת רפואה שלמה וקרובה בתוך שאר חולי ישראל....”. At the end of the letter, Rabbeinu writes a blessing: ”יעזרכם המרום לשבע עונג ונחת מצאצאיכם עונג רוחני וגשמי יחד...” and his signature. He then adds a line with regards to Rabbi Dvortz' brother, Rabbi Yitzchak. Added on verso of the leaf are lines handwritten by him, beginning with the words: ”אחר קושי הכתיבה אתאמץ להשיב על שאלותיו בקצור ואת כבודו הסליחה על אי הסדר...”. Rabbeinu refers to the Or Hatzfun journal of Slabodka students which is not being published due to lack of time rather than lack of funding. He then sends Mazel Tov for the birth of a nephew and niece: ”לאחיו מר זלמן ני' וגיסו על הולדת בן ובת להם, יתן ד' שהוריהם יגדלו אותם לתורה לחומע”ט [לחופה ומעשים טובים] ברב עושר וכל טוב...” at the end, he asks about an issue of Tevunah whoch was published by Rabbi Dvortz.  [1] leaf. 27X22 cm. Fold lines and filing holes affecting some letters.  The Gaon Rabbi Avraham Grodzinsky   (1882-1944) one of the rabbis of the Mussar Movement. Was born in Warsaw to Rabbi Yitzchak Grodzinzky. At the age of 17, joined the Slabodka Yeshiva and became one of the disciples of Rabbi Natan Zvi Finkel, the SAba. At the age of 21 was sent by his Rav to Telz to help the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Eliezer Gordon in introducing the Mussar doctrine to his yeshiva. Having accomplished the mission, he returned to Slabodka and served as its Mashgiach. In 1911, he married the daughter if Rabbi Dov Zvi Heller who was also a Mashgiach at the yeshiva and the Chavruta of the Saba of Slabodka.  In 1925, was sent by the Saba to establish the yeshiva in Eretz Yisrael alongside Rabbi Yechekel Sarna, returning to Slabodka after the yeshiva was based.  During WWII, made many efforts to save as many Jews as possible. He perished in the hospital of the Kovno Ghetteo, which was put on fire by the Nazis.   Four of his children persihed in the Holocaust. His son Yitzchak of Bnei Brak established and headed the Torat Avraham Kollel Avreichim named after his father. His sons-in-law include contemporary Gedolei Torah, Rabbi Chaim Kreizvirt - the Ilut of Krakow and Rav of Antwerp, Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe - a leading contemporary Rav of the mUssar Movement and Rabbi Baruch Rosenberg - the Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka in Bnei Brak and memeber of Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah.
