Rare! First Time Auctioned - in an Ancient Letaher Binding with Buckles: Chovot Halevavot, the Important Mussar Book - Early Edition Crakow, 1593 - Sefer Chovot Halevavot, an important Mussar book, ”by the great Rav the Chassid Rabbeinu Behaye, the Spanish Dayan, Ben Yosef, authored in Arabic and copied into Hebrew by the sage Rabbi Yehuda ibn Tibbon. Re-edited... and with two additional plates, one with the division of the book's chapters and the other with references of verses and Mamarei Chazal introduced in the book... (these two plates which contain the indices and verses index are missing from this copy)”.  Early edition of this important Sefer Yesod, printed by Rabbi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Aharon of Prostitz, ”with the support of Rabbi Naftali bar Tuvia known as Hirsch Alt Schuler”, Crakow, 1593. Originally: 96, 99-103, [1] leaves - this copy ends with leaf 93. As stated, the indices are missing. The entire text of the work exists. Professional restorations, affecting the text of the last 12 leaves. Ancient leather-covered wooden binding with metal buckles which has been professionally restored with a reconstructed binding. Good overall condition.  An extremely rare book that was never auctioned.  On the colophon (leaf 93b): ”This work was printed... on IYar 25, 1593 by Naftali bar Tuvia known by all as Hirsch the bookseller of  Lublin”. Based on the Mantova 1569 editiom, with the editor's poem and his foreword - the ”Table of Corrections” was omitted and the errors were not corrected.  Notations and varied ownership signatures. Of them, the following were identified: the signature of Eliezer ben Hakadosh Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak and an ownership notation of Rabbi Shimon of the Zontin community.
