Rabbi Gershon Ashkenazi... edited by his son, Rabbi Natan”. The famed work on the Torah by the author of Shut Avodat Hagershoni, the Gaon Rabbi Gershon Ashkenazi, who was an important contemporary Meishiv and Rav of the important communities of Nikolsburg, Vienna and Metz. First edition, the press of Johan Vausht, Frankfurt am Main - 1699. Magnificent title page, ornated like the author's Shut book which was published in the same year. [8], 95, [1] leaves. 18 cm. Stains and minor blemishes. Moth burrows at the beginning of the book and at its end from leaf 74 to its end, slightly affecting the text of each leaf. Except for this, good overall condition. Bound in an old binding with an unraveled fabric spine.  On the title page of the book, an ancient notation from the time of printing: ”Belongs to the Gaon... Rabbi Yitzchak Shapiro, Tuesday the 12th of Sivan 1709?”. And on the last page: ”Ne'um Joseph”. A single pen correction and an additional faded notation on one of the leaves. All of these have not studied.
