SEfer Ein Yisrael [Ein Yaakov] Two Sections - Amsterdam, 1725-1727 - Volume with the two sections of Sefer Ein Yisrael (Ein Yaakov - see below about the change of the title), ”with the meaning of the words and added to it, Sefer Beit Yehuda (by Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh of Modena)... Mamarim of the Shas which were omitted by the author of the Ein Yaakov... and printed in large fonts and in a small format so everyone can easily carry it”. The Press of Rabbi Shlomo Proops, Amsterdam - 1725-1727. [1], 150; 175 leaves. 18 cm. Fine copy with minor blemishes. Some tears along the edges of the first title page slightly affecting the text on verso of the title page. Stains. Good overall condition. Old, later binding without a spine.  On the title page of the book, a notation in ancient script: ”זאת נדב ה”ה הב”ח כ”ה ליב בן המנוח הרב החסי' כמהור”ר שמשון סגל זצ”ל” (apparently, referring to Rabbi Yehuda Leib Av Beit Din of Schönlanke (today: Trzcianka), the son of Rabbi Shimshon Segal Av Beit Din of Ravitsh).  Ein Yisrael - Ein Yaakov The famed work Ein Yaakov, an important Sefer Yesod, is a compilation of most of the Talmudic Aggadot appearing in the Bavli and Yerushalmi. The book was authored by Rabbi Yaakov ben Chaviv, who managed to write only two sections of the book, Seder Zera'im and Seder Moed, and then passed away. The book was completed by his son, Rabbi Levi ben Chaviv - the Ralbach.  The book was published for the first time in Salonika in 1516, after the author's passing. Ever since, it had multiple editions. Following the polemic concerning the Talmud in Italy in the 16th century, the Inquisition of Venice announced that the book Ein Yaakov contained words of heresy and it was decided to burn it with copies of the Bavli and Yerushalmi Talmud. In 1566, consent was given to re-publish the book. However, due to a papal ban on its printing, its title was changed to Ein Yisrael. Later, the book was regiven its original title, Ein Yaakov.
