Fascinating Letter - Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Yaakov Rabinovich Av Beit Din of Liverpool - Liverpool, 1921 - Lengthy and fascinating letter with criticism of people's attraction to non-religious books - handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Yaakov Rabinovich - addressed to Rabbi Orenstein of Jerusalem - Liverpool, 1921.  In his letter, Rabbeinu asks Rabbi Orenstein to obtain quality paper in Eretz Yisrael for printing his books. Among others, Rabbeinu bemoans book reviews appearing in the media, which praise intellectuals' writings yet scorn rabbinic literature: ”צר לי מאד לראות את זלזול כבוד התורה בדורנו זה, ובה בשעה שבספרות חול מרימים על נס את כל ספור קל, את כל... ריקה ופטפוטי מלין שהוציא איזה סופר עד שיעשוהו למשורר או חוקר ופילוסוף כאריסטו בשעתו, הנה על הספרות הרבנית, ביחוד ההלכות מביטים כעל דבר שהוא למטה מכל בקורת ועוברים עליה בשאט בנפש....”. Good condition.  Rabbi Shmuel Yaakov Rabinovich Av Beit Din of Liverpool (1857-1921) served as Rav of Iwje, Aleksotas and Sopotzkin and them moved to England, where he served as Av Beit Din of Liverpool.
