Letter for the Hebron Yeshiva after the 1929 Riots - by Rabbi Zeev Wolf Gold One of theLeaders of HaMizrachi - New York, 1930 - Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Zeev Wolf Gold - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein - about the re-establishment of the Hebron Yeshiva after the Riots - winter, 1930 - approx. four months after the 1929 Riots! One of the casualties of the 1929 Palestine Riots was the Hebron Yeshiva, which several of its students and rabbis were murdered by the Arabs. Immediately after the Riots, the yeshiva banadoned Hebron with the rest of the Jewish population and reopened in Jerusalem. In this letter, Rabbi Gold tells the Rosh Yeshiva that he had delivered a passionate speech to rabbis and leaders in the USA to encourage them to support the re-establishment of the yeshiva: ”נשאתי נאום חוצב להבות אש שנכנס לתוך לב מרנן ורבנן ותארתי לפניהם גודל העניין וחשיבותו... לרכז את כל כוחותינו להגן על מבצר הרוח... ולחזקו מחדש... ואל יאמרו לנו ישיבו לחברון ואז נבצר אותה מחדש... חורבן וחורבן הישיבה הוא שני דברים.. Official stationery, written on both sides.  18X25 cm.  Filing perforations slightly affecting the text. Good condition.  Rabbi Zeev Gold (1889-1956) was born in Russia to Rabbi Yaakov Meir, Av Beit Din of Izabielin. Immigrated to the USA and served as Rav of several communities there. Was one of the founders of the Torah Vadaat Yeshiva. Was one of the leaders of HaMizrachi yet at the same time, supported Chareidi institutions, yeshivas and Talmudei Tirah.
