Rare Letter - Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Chaim Guttman Av Beit Din of Boston - Addressed to the Etz Chaim Yeshiva - Boston, 1960 - Letter  by the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Chaim Guttman Av Beit Din of Boston and previously Rav of Budapest - Boston, 1960.  In his letter, Rabbeinu writes to the managers of the yeshiva that he is sending them a cheque and donation for the yeshiva. He signs his and his mother's name and the name of his wife, the Rebbetzin, and her mother's, apparently so the student of the yeshiva could pray for them: שמואל חיים בן אדו”מ משה דוד זלה”ה גוטמאנן שם אמי גאלדא סבל ע”ה וזוגתי תחי' מ' מירל בת הרב צבי זאב הי”ד וש”א הענשא ע”ה”. Official stationery.  20.5X21.5 cm.  Fold lines. Filing perforations. Good condition.  Rabbi Shmuel Chaim Guttman served as Rav of Budapest and after the Holocaust moved to the USA serving as Av Beit Din of Boston. In his old age, he immigrated to Israel, where he was laid to rest. Rabbi David Friedman, the son of Rabbi Binyamin Friedman of Mishkoltz, in the foreword to his father's book Ahavat Olam Ahavtich, describes him as follows: ”שמוע שמעתי שהגיע רב גדול בתורה מארה”ב, רב בבוסטון, ומלפנים היה רב בעיר הבירה בודאפעסט בהונגריה, אמרתי... לקבל פניו של הרב הנ”ל.... כשהגענו לביתו פנימה, ראינו עומד לפנינו דמות של רב מכובד מהדור הישן, בעל הדרת פנים...”.
