Touching Letter by the Gaon Rabbi Dov Zvi Heiman, Rav of Minneapolis Maine - Addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron - Minneapolis, 1934 - שהמצב הגשמי הקשה לא עשה רושם על צביונה הרוחני  - lengthy, fascinating letter by the Gaon Rabbi Dov Zvi Heiman, Rav of Minneapolis Maine - addressed to the famed Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron in Jerusalem - with fascinating details about the Hebron Yeshiva and the situation of USA Jewry in the 1930s - Minneapolis, 1934 - six pages handwritten and signed by him! Rabbi Heiman used to study at the Hebron Yeshiva and was a disciple of the Rashei Yeshiva, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein and his son-in-law Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna. In his letter, he describes the Hebron Yeshiva as it was indicated by his friends' letters, the health of Rabbi Moshe Mordechai and the state of USA Jewry: ”לכבוד מורי ורבי הגאון רח”ס שליט”א... השתדלתי וקבלתי ידיעות שונות במקרים שונים מהנעשה אצלכם לבי עלי דוי לשמוע כי אדמו”ר מרן הגרמ”מ שליט”א נמצא עדיין על ערש דווי.....במכתב שקבלתי... הוא כותב שהישיבה הק' מצבה הרוחני הוא עכשיו בדיוטא עליונה, גם זו היא שמחה גדולה אצלי בימים אלה שאנו שומעים רק שמועות של יגון ואנחה ר”ל מהמצב הגשמי... לא כן הוא המצב הרוחני פה באמריקה מקום שהפרוטה יותר מצויה... כבר היו ימים שחשבתי כי עוד נזכה בקרוב לראות את אחינו בארץ הזאת שבים אל מנוחת שבתם ע”ח חוקי הממשלה של עבודה רק חמש ימים בשבוע.... At the end of the letter, there is a lengthy list of donors to the Hebron Yeshiva from Maine.  Special letter with many unique historical details! Official stationery, six written pages.  18X25.5 cm.  Filing perforations slightly affecting the text. Good condition.  Rabbi Dov Zvi Heiman (b. 1902) studied in Telz and Slabodka. Immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and was one of the first students of the Hebron Yeshiva. Received his rabbinic Semicha from his Rav the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Rabbi Eliyahu Kletzkn and Rabbi Isser Zalmam Meltzer. He moved to the USA where he served as Rav in Minneapolis and later as Ram at the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Baltimore. Was one of the leaders of HaMizrachi in the USA.
