Special Letter by Maran the Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook - Addressed to Reb Shmuel Chaim Landau - Jerusalem, 1928 - Special letter indicating Rav Kook's struggle against Chilul Shabbat in the new colonies - Jerusalem, 1928.  Despite Maran's fondness of Yishuv HaAretz and the varied forces that were building it, he fiercly protested against Chilul Shabbat, often using sharp language. In his article Chazon Hageulah, Rav Kook writes: חילול שבת בפרהסיה בערים, במושבות בייחוד בחוות ובקבוצות ששם בא הדבר עד לידי תכונה פוגרומית, עד לידי הריסה מטילה איבה ניצחת בין אחים, דבר זה לא יכול להמשך הלאה... הגולה תעשה כמדורת אש לעומת מצב מחפיר כזה...”.   In this letter, Rabbeinu writes to Shmuel Chaim Landau, one of the leaders of HaMizrachi:  ”לרגל השמועות והידיעות השונות שנתפרסמו בזמן האחרון בקשר עם שאלת עבודה במושבות, הנני מתכבד להזמין את כ' לביתי... לשם שיחה בעניין...”. The letter was written several months before Shmuel Chaim's tragic death in Sivan 1928.  Official stationery.  14X20 cm.  Filing perforations. Good condition.  Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook (1865-1935) the Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael, a Gaon and Mekubal, the founder of the Merkaz Harav Yeshiva and one of the forefathers of religious Zionism. The author of Sifrei Yesod and Rav of many Gedolei Yisrael.
